Salaamun Alaykum,
The QSC was based on Surah al-Asr (103). This session was an introduction to discussing detailed tafseer of this Surah.
Group Discussion (I):
What does Success mean to you?
Various enlightening answers were received including:
- Achievement of ever-moving goals and milestones set by Humans
- Non-stagnation with constant progression
- Accomplishing wajibaat and progressing on the journey towards the Almighty
- Controlling vices
- Working towards achieving success in Aakhirah as the main objective
- Increasing in all spans of knowledge
Excellence (fadhilah) of recitation of Surah al-Asr:
“One who recites (Sura al Asr), Allah would grant ten times the reward of one who does tawaf of K’abah and remains in I’tikaf in Masjidul Haram. “ Noble Prophet Muhammad SAWW
“One who recites (Sura al Asr) in nafilah prayers , Allah will raise with a bright dazzling face, cheerful features, delighted eyes (looking upon the blessings from Allah) until entering Jannah.” Imam J’afar As Saadiq A.S.
Group Discussion (II):
Does one receive this abundant reward just by mere recitation? Is there more to it than its recitation?
- Magnanimity of Allah SWT: every opportunity for rewarding His servant.
- Different levels of reward depending on various factors such as intention, understanding and application in life.
- Mere recitation also has its reward but could this be lesser than the reward received by one who has comprehended the depth of the Surah and applied its teaching?
- The recitation may also inspire one to take part in further Sunnah acts; such as to gain the reward of Surah al-Asr when recited in Nafilah Prayer , one would then recite the Nafilah Prayer and hence receive double-fold reward.
- Finally, recitation is just the key that opens up a path of reward which can only be achieved through understanding and application to attain that promised maximum benefit.
The next QSC will discuss further the verses of the Surah, InshAllah.
