Sheikh Fazle Abbas Datoo, Imam at Al Mahdi Mosque was invited to our school on 30th April, 2024. This visit that we had was an assembly for KS1 and EYFS to discuss Eid. The assembly included drawing explanations on the whiteboard and using pictures on the screen to show the children all about the celebration of Eid. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and said that they understood more about Islam from the assembly as we don't focus on this in our curriculum. Some children who celebrate this Eid festival at home said that they enjoyed hearing about it at school and the other children learning more about it. As RE lead I felt that it was important that these children felt represented and it was important that all of the children learn about Islam as this is not part of our current curriculum.
